Hino has made a full model change on its large-sized hybrid touring coach (only available in the Japanese market) and launched sales of the new Hino Selega Hybrid.

In 1991, ahead of the world market, Hino started selling buses equipped with a parallel hybrid system combining a diesel engine and an electric motor. In 1997, Hino released the world's first large-sized high-output hybrid touring coach which already plays an important role in national and quasi-national parks. Now, Hino has conducted its first full model change in 11 years.

The new model Hino Selega Hybrid features reduced emissions and improved fuel consumption due to an A09C-1M type power unit (piston displacement of 8.9 L), combined with a new lightweight, high-output engine in Hino's special hybrid system. This enables the Hino Selega Hybrid to meet the 2005 (new long-term) emission regulations and has earned it certification from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism as a "NOx & PM 10% reduction low emissions heavy vehicle." The Hino Selega also meets the fuel economy standards for the year 2015.

The vehicle's structure and appearance continue the style of the Hino Selega High Decker, which has already gained popularity. It also achieves a comfortable traveling space by matching the High Decker's level of drivability, ride quality, and interior comfort. The new model Hino Selega Hybrid was used as shuttle bus for the Hokkaido Toyako Summit, which was held in July 2008.
