On August 31, 2008, The Second New-energy Project of FOTON BUS has completed and formally put into production.
Since January 11, 2008, 30 hybrid buses of FOTON has been running on the streets of Guangzhou, which opened the industrialization of Chinese hybrid bus products.

Up to now, the mileage of these running buses has accumulated over 120 million km, the longest mileage of single bus over nearly 60,000 kilometers. With an 97.2% average attendance, no major breakdown occours. The average fuel consumption is 30.5 L/100km, cycling minimum fuel consumption 27.3 L/100km. Compared with traditional buses, the average fuel consumption saves more than 25 percent, reduces nitrogen oxides about 27 percent and absorbing particles about 19 percent. Reliability, energy-saving and emissions reduction becomes the major feature.
In accordance with the whole company's plan, at the end of 2010, FOTON will make the sale of hybrid buses to be 500 or more, and to 2012, this number will increase to 1,500. Until then, large-scale industrial operations also is just around the corner.
In addition to the remarkable achievements of hybrid bus, FOTON is also actively involved in the research and development of fuel cell bus, which is a major part of National 863 Projects.
Through years of cooperation with Tsinghua University, FOTON fuel cell bus finally succeeded and first showed on April 2008 as "the vehicle whose exhaust can feed fish."
