Hino Motors Limited is looking to foray into the booming luxury bus market in India by launching its array of products. Even though the company didn't divulge any details about the kind of buses it would be introducing, it has indicated that its buses would be in the likes of Volvo, etc. The heavy commercial vehicle arm of Toyota Motors, along with compatriot trader Marubeni Corporation, has established a joint auto sales company, Hino Motors Sales India Private Limited, in Mumbai to begin sales of the Hino 500 Series trucks in the country.

While addressing the media in Chennai, Amol J. Sandil, EVP, Hino Motors Sales India Private Limited (HMSIPL) said that the company will bring from Hino Plant in Thailand its globally popular 500 Series vehicles as cabin and chassis in SKD forms, including FM Range for 6x4 applications and FL Range for 6x2 applications. Plans are also afoot to roll out 8X4 tippers, followed by tractors and trailers. All these products are expected to be assembled at its facility near Bhiwandi, near Mumbai. HMSIPL will also be introducing a super luxury bus built in India on Hino's top of the line RM1E chassis platform. Significant value additions by way of application bodies such as tippers, trucks, containerised vans, refrigerated trucks and buses will be done in India, Sandil said, adding that it is scouting for vendors for that.
